Moon Halo

"Tengok bulan!" My friend's status on YM. A few minutes later, I got a message from my classmate. "Tengok dop bulan malam ni?" I'd no idea what they mean until I watched the sky with my own eyes. SubhanAllah. Its so beautiful! For the first time I saw the moon halo on 30 September. I'm not really sure about that but after googling I find its true. I can be an amateur astronomer. Yes~!! Haha. However I'm not able to take any picture >.<

An image of moon halo

Halo also known as nimbus, icebow or Gloriole can be define as an optical phenomenon produced by ice crystals creating coloured or white arcs and spots in the sky which is usually surround the sun and moon. Halo can form artificial light in very cold weather when ice crystals called diamond dust are floating in the nearby air.

There are various kind of halos but they're generally caused by ice crystals in cold cirrus cloud which are situated far above the ground in upper troposphere. The meticulus shape and direction of the crystals is accountable for the sort of halo observed. Light is reflected and refracted by the ice crystals and might divide into colours because of dispersion.

The other phenomenon that can be seen on that night was Moon-Jupiter in conjunction.

Perseid Meteor Shower

Add ImageA meteor streaks past stars in the night sky at the Mont-Tendre near Montricher in the Jura, north of Geneva, late August 12, 2009. The Perseid meteor shower is sparked every August when the Earth passes through a stream of space debris left by Comet Swift-Tuttle. This picture was taken using a long exposure and a fisheye lens.

The Perseid meteor shower, an annual event being tracked by astronomers for centuries, peaks this week.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Perseids may be the best meteor watching event of the year, according to news reports on Thursday.

The phenomenon, which happens each summer as the Earth's orbit takes it through debris scattered by the tail of Comet Swift-Tuttle, had been due to reach its peak early Thursday morning, 13rd of August 2009.

A Perseid meteor streaks above the skies of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida August 12, 2009.

The meteors appear to come from a point called a "radiant" in the constellation of Perseus -- therefore it is named Perseid.

No special equipment was needed to watch the shower, which occurs when Earth passes through a stream of dusty debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle.

Amateur astronomers worldwide showed their passions for the greatest concentration of Perseid meteors on Twitter, the networking website, where astronomers posted their sightings. One lucky England stargazer in Chelmsford, Essex, reported seeing 20 meteors in 40 minutes.

Kem Profesionalisme 2009/2010

Assalamualaikum...

Syukur, Alhamdulillah.
Barisan fesi paling popular~

Gabungan kakak-kakak fesi yang mantap~

Sebelum peperangan meletus
